Historic Spencer Shops
In commemoration of the 1977 gift to the State of North Carolina by Southern Railway Company of the property and buildings which formerly housed Southern's largest steam locomative servicing facility. Historic Spencer Shops, North Carolina's Transportation Museum, is administered by the Division of Archives and History of the department of Cultural Resources.

This is a great place to visit. It is a free admission museum. Filled with many Railroad displays. It also features many old cars, and neat items like tools etc. It has lots to see, and covers many acres, an has several buildings open to the public. A great place to take kids.
