This statue of Michaelangelo was originally erected in 1909 on the Roycroft Campus across the street by Elbert Hubbard. Hubbard was a longtime admirer of Michaelangelo and placed this statue in his honor. The bronze sculpture was created by Paul Bartlett and is a copy of the one placed in the Rotunda of the Congressional Library. The turtle at Michaelangelo's feet is a signature item of Bartlett's, symbolizing his slowness in completing a project.
