The hotel opened in 1925 and is known for its luxury and class. The hotel is a AAA four diamond property. The hotel is well known for its marching Peabody Ducks which march across the Grand Lobby two times a day (11 am and 5 pm) to the to the tune of John Philip Sousa's “King Cotton March”. The Peabody is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
