Joe Tinker, the original owner of the building, was best known as a professional short stop for the Chicago Cubs. He was also a baseball manager and a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Tinker moved to Orlando in December of 1920 to manage the Orlando Baseball team. Tinker has this building built to house his real estate business.
The style of the building is 20th Century Commercial. It is a brick structure covered in Terracotta and glazed tile.
Many businesses have called the Tinker Building home, starting with Joe Tinkers Real Estate business, a pool hall and a Singer Sewing Machine Company store(1928), Balfour Hardware Store(1930-1941). It was owned by the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company(1941) and then sold to Carey Hand. It currently houses a law firm.
