The road ascends through heavy timber with only occasional far views to
LOLO PASS, 37 m. (5,187 alt.), closely following the route of Lewis and Clark in
1805 . At the pass State 9 (gravel road) crosses the Idaho Line, 10 miles north
of Powell Ranger Station, Idaho. page 301
Lolo Pass is now crossed by U.S. Hwy 12 a well maintained asphalt road.
There is a visitors center located on the Idaho side of the boarder.
