Located in Springfield, MO, the Jefferson Street Footbridge was constructed in 1902 by the American Bridge Company of Patterson, PA for $8200. The bridge accommodated the pedestrian traffic of the Commercial Street business district.
The bridge was first placed on the Springfield, Missouri Historical Site Register on Dec. 10, 1973. Then in 2002 was place on the National Register of Historic Places by the US Dept. of Interior.
For safety purposes (located in a downtown area) the site should only be visited in daylight hours.
