According to the Wiki a quarter of a million passengers left or arrived at Oxenholme in 04/05. Quite a few will have been Japanese tourists en route to the literary sites in the Lakes (Wordsworth, Potter, Ruskin), although they may have continued to Windermere on the branch line that connects here and might not be included in the stats!
A lot of backpack carrying walkers also call through here and the station's full name is Oxenholme - The Lake District. Just down the road is the town of Kendal.
Wikipedia lists a couple of notable incidents at the station but misses an earlier one when Pc George Russell was shot in 1965. A plaque is on platform 1 commemorating this event. (See Infamous Crime Scenes waymark)
