Yaroslavl, located at the conjunction of the Kotor0sl and Volga Rivers, is the largest city on the "Golden Ring" north of Moscow. It is included on the roster of World Heritage sites as an outstanding example of the urban planning reform instigated throughout Russia by Empress Catherine the Great between 1763 and 1830. Significant historic structures have been preserved, among them the the 16th century Spassky (Transfiguration of the Savior) Monastery, one of the oldest on the Upper Volga. The city, which has been an important commercial center since the 11th century, was rebuilt on a Neoclassical radial urban plan, an example of the interchange of cultural and architectural influences between Western Europe and Russian Empire.
Yaroslavl is known for numerous 16th and 17th century churches, many of them built by wealthy Merchants. Perhaps he best known of these is The Church of Elijah The Prophet, which stands on Sovetskaya Plaza, the center of the radial street plan.
The Coordinates were taken in the center of Sovetskya Plaza.
