More than 150 years ago, prominent Alabamians journeyed to a charming rural village called Blount Springs to refresh and relax in the famous therapeutic springs of this mountain region. Some came from New York, Washington, and New Orleans. By the 1880's, Blount Springs had become one of the foremost health resorts in the South.
Tragedy hit the resort in 1915 as a fire destroyed two main hotels, several homes, businesses, and cottages, bringing the flourishing early days of the town to an end.
