Fort Niagara State Park is a large park along the shores of Lake Ontario at the mouth of the Niagara River. There are plenty of picnic tables and pavilions available for use, scattered throughout the park. Along the shore of the lake is a grassy slope that leads down to a rocky beach. The beach itself is nothing to be desired, but the grass hill is a great place to catch some sun. On a clear day, you can see the Toronto skyline too. Nearby is a large swimming pool with waterslide and a small restaurant. All throughout the park are over 20 soccer fields, which are popular during the summer months for tournaments. There is a boat launch on the west side of the park allowing you access to the river and lake for some fishing or hunting.

The admission fee is only charged from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There is also an additional fee to enter Fort Niagara.

It played a key role during the French & Indian War, American Revolution, War of 1812, and the U.S. Civil War. The area outside of Fort Niagara, but within the park, was also used as a POW camp during World War II.
