This small lava canyon in the desert contains hundreds of ancient petroglyphs. This area on BLM land is about 30 miles north of Barstow.

This small canyon is reported to have the highest concentration of petroglyphs in the entire Mojave Desert.

Access from Barstow is via Irwin Rd, Copper City Rd, and Black Mountain Rd. There are also other ways to get here. Good maps are mandatory. High clearance vehicles might be necessary, and 4x4 would be helpful. This is the desert, be prepared for all conditions.
