From the NPS info board:
'Built by Company 576 of the CCC from Virginia Kendall Park. The camp's name comes from the "Happy Days Are Here Again" theme song of FDR's New Deal political platform. The song's title was given to the children's day camp as a symbol of hope for Depresion-era youth.
Now a visitor center, Happy Days also served as a dormitory for the summer playground program sponsored by the Akron BoE & Recreation Commission.'
