Gettysburg RM 1 - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This Reference Mark is located on the Civil War battlefied at Gettysburg National Militaty Park. It is located on Cemetery Hill - E of the Baltimore Pike (PA 97) on the SE edge of town. This was the site of the Uinon lines on the 2nd & 3rd days of the battle. The description from the current NGS datasheet is below:

Note - metal detectors are not permitted on the park grounds( although you wouldn't need it for this one).

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1966
AT GETTYSBURG.
AT THE GETTYSBURG STATION SITE 67.69 FEET NORTH OF THE STATION, 30 FEET NORTHWEST OF RICKETTS BATTERY MONUMENT, 1 FOOT EAST OF THE STONE FENCE AND IS SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST FLUSH AND IS ABOUT LEVEL WITH THE STATION. NOTE-- FOR DESCRIPTION SEE STATION GETTYSBURG.
