I traveled The Oregon Trail with an Elderhostel group from Kansas City/Independence, Missouri to Oregon City, Oregon June 13-28, 2007. On Monday, June 25, we traveled from Boise, Idaho to Baker City, Oregon by way of Murphy, Idaho where we had lunch.According to the historical marker, for a decade after 1864 most of Silver City's mineral wealth came from Upper War Eagle Mountain which rises a vertical mile above here. San Francisco bank failures ended production here in 1875 and once thriving camps became ghost towns.
