Long Description:
John Carr served as a Private with Company G, 8th United States Cavalry when he was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic action on October 29, 1869 in the Chricahua Mountains of Arizona during the Indian Wars. He was promoted to the rank of corporal. Corporal Carr died on July 15, 1891 and is buried in Section KK, Site 16550 in the Nashville National Cemetery.

Corporal Carr’s Medal of Honor Citation reads:

“Gallantry in action.”
