The Ortega River Bridge, also known as the Old Ortega Bridge, or the Grand Avenue Bridge, is a local historical landmark. It has been functional since the 1920s, and recent renovations of the bridge and parks at the north end have made this a relaxing place to enjoy a sunny day by the river. The bridge is at the mouth of the Ortega, where it flows into the St. John's River, overlooking Jacksonville's skyline. A warm weekend afternoon sees this bridge go up and down many times an hour as sailboats and motor yachts make their way through to their docks.
