This is a very interesting benchmark since it is an elevation type benchmark which many courthouses and city halls have in this part of the country but on this one the elevation is blank.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1972 AT ROME. AT ROME, ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 53 (BROAD STREET, AT THE ROME MUNICIPAL BUILDING, IN THE NORTHEAST QUARTER OF THE INTERSECTION OF BROAD STREET AND SIXTH AVENUE, 38 1/2 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTH CURB OF BROAD STREET, 112 FEET EAST OF THE EAST CURB OF SIXTH AVENUE, SET VERTICALLY IN THE SOUTH FACE OF THE SOUTH GRANITE WALL, AT THE WEST END OF THE STEPS LEADING TO THE SOUTH ENTRANCE TO THE BUILDING, 25.5 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE MARBLE BASE FOR THE STATUE OF THE CAPITOLINE WOLF WHICH IS LOCATED DIRECTLY SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF THE SOUTH ENTRANCE TO THE BUILDING, ABOUT 5 FEET ABOVE THE LEVEL OF BROAD STREET AND 2.7 FEET ABOVE THE SIDEWALK.
