The Great White Castle of the North was originally built as the Gaynor House Hotel in 1865, torn down and rebuilt in 1883, when it was renamed the New House of Ludington, and expanded to 100 rooms in 1910.
Many of the rooms have been combined into apartments and suites, bringing the number of available hotel rooms is down to only 25.
The present owners have brought the hotel back to its old spendor, after purchasing the vacant hotel in 1996.
