Stephen Thompson Jr. is a rare Revolutionary War veteran since he also served in the War of 1812. He is one of four Revolutionary War veterans in this cemetery. From the Jr. and Sr. on the same name and their proximity in the cemetery, he was almost certainly the son of Revolutionary War veteran Stephen Thompson Sr.
Stephen Thompson, Jr. was born 6 May 1764 at Goshen, CT. At the age of fourteen years he enlisted in the First regiment, CT line, serving until the consolidation of the Fifth regiment with the First regiment in 1781, at which time his father, Deacon Stephen Thompson, sent him home. He married Abigail Hutchinson and they moved to Hudson in 1801. Information from: (
