In l905 the Lucas Family moved to Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, and purchased five acres of land,This parcel of land became to be called
LUCAS CORNER .

Henry Lucas, whose nick name was " Harry" purchased this land in l905 when he moved from New York City, and he died there in l960, He was the Vice President of the Diamond Match Company in l905
and since he had spent many childhood vacations in this area, he later decided to move here in l905.

The Lucas House is still at the present location at Mountain Avenue and Plainfield Avenue, in Berkeley Heights, Union County, New Jersey, 07922

In l9l6 Harry Lucas was a member of the Berkeley Heights Township committee, on the Board of education, a fireman in the fire department, and was the founder of the Berkeley Heights rescue squad.

In l920 Harry Lucas enlarged the second floor of his home, adding a front porch and the property which was five acres was known as Lucas Corner since l905.

in l931 Harry Lucas moved his house 80 feet west because the main road changed with a new alignment of Mountain Avenue and Plainfield Avenue,
He added a handsome stone chimney and fireplace to his house and personalized his house by placing a wrought iron "L' on the side of the chimney , near the top, which is still there today, The past year a lot of ivy has overgrown the chimney and it is hard to see the " L" now but it is still there,

In 1960 Harry Lucas died and his second wife who was Sarah Bohm Lucas sold the five acres of land to the Presbytery of Morris and Orange to build the Westminster Presbyterian Chuch, which broke ground in l965 and is there now in 2005.
