This Victorian Posting Box is set in the wall of a house, on a steep bend as you leave Ambleside to go up to Kirkstone Pass. Still in daily use.

This area of Ambleside used to be an area with mills drawing power from Stock Ghyll. The road leads up to Kirkstone Pass. There is a unique number of LA22 138. LA22 being part of the postcode for Ambleside.

At the base is maker's name, but paint has obscured most of the letters. So making a best guess.
