This anchor has no information displayed about its origin. The anchor is the emblem for Hope College. This stems from a speech made by a community leader, Albertus van Raalte, when the college was founded when he said "This is my anchor of hope for this people in the future," (an allusion to Hebrews 6:19)
The plaque on the base of the display is a Scripture quotation:
"We desire that everyone of you lay hold of the hope set before us, which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast. Hebrews 6:11,18,19"
