Truro, the cathedral town of Cornwall, was previously a stannery town which was very important for exporting ore from the mining industry. It became a fashionable town in the 18th century and the Georgian buildings remain today. These days, it is a busy county town with a Main Line station.
The Cathedral was built around 1880 on the site of an older church. The Cathedral extends a warm welcome to visitors. There are guided tours every day throughout the season, as well as booked tours for groups. It has a well-stocked shop for gifts and souvenirs and a very popular restaurant housed in the Chapter House.
