This regaion probably has the largest number of native woody plant species on earth. In 1887 J.H.H. Boyd began collecting seeds and plants from forests to sell around the world. with sons Fernando and Jim, he located near McMinnville in 1904. Warren County's soil and climate proved ideal for plant nurseries. It became one of the world's greatest producers of nursery stock.
