I have been intrigued by this house from photos for years, but have forgotten to stop by every time I visited Oak Park until now...
George Furbeck was the eldest son of Warren Furbeck and despite its twin turrets, is much less imposing than the design for his younger brother Rollin. According to recent assertions by Cannon, the house was not really a gift as father was paid back over the years

The interior remains much as constructed, but the exterior has received a number of modifications over the years which makes it appear more awkward than originally designed. These alterations include adding large dormers on the second floor, removal of the porte cochere on the north, and adding a much larger enclosed porch in the front.
