Memorials Program
"Libraries are not made, they grow." In 1900, the first seed was planted in Portage, and our library has grown ever since. A large part of this growth has been due to memorials, gifts, bequests, and endowments provided by concerned civic-minded citizens. There are many ways to help the library continue to grow:

Purchase a Memorial book for the collection.
Endow a special service.
Establish a trust fund for books or other materials.
Make an outright bequest or gift to the library for use as the Library Board sees fit.
Establish a charitable remainder trust for the benefit of the library.
All donations are tax deductible.

The Library Board has designed a new brochure detailing the Portage Public Library Memorials Program, available at the circulation desk.

Outreach Programs

The library serves as a contact for those requiring Braille and talking books (provided free by the Library of Congress) as well as providing large print books and books on tape.
