This arch/bridge was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's. It marks the border of the National Park and Wenatchee National Forest, and also serves as a pedestrian bridge over the highway.

The famous Pacific Crest Trail, a 2,650 mile trail running from Canada to Mexico, crosses over the pass at this point and uses the bridge atop the National Park entrance arch to do so. The bridge is adjacent to a parking area and entry point to the trail.

The pass is closed during the winter months. It is typically closed from late November through March or April.
