I spent plenty of my summers during the 1980s and 1990s at this ballpark watching the Indians play. The atomisphere was absolutely perfect.
In 1931 the facility was called Perry Stadium, named for Norm Perry, the club owner. It was renamed Victory Field in 1942, a reference to WWII. The City of Indianapolis purchased the field in 1967, renaming it for former major league baseball player and Indianapolis citizen Donie Bush.
The nostalgic look and feel of the stadium made it a great location for filming. The field appears in "Eight Men Out" and "A League of their Own".
The stadium closed July 3, 1996. The site was used for a couple of years as a midget car racetrack, but is only used for parking today.
