This dam was built in 1903 by Consolidated Water Power Co., later to become Consolidated Paper. Consolidated Paper was bought by Stora Enso which currently runs the dam. This dam crosses the Wisconsin River to generate power for the Stora Enso Pulp/Paper Mill. It is one of the many dams across the Wisconsin River that give the river the title "The Hardest Working River in the World."
