This side trail follow an old railroad bed, built in the early 1930's. There are five tunnels leading to Hoover Dam. The railroad hauled materials and equipment used in the construction of Hoover Dam. At the height of activity, trains ran 24 hours a day. The last train trip was in 1961 and the tracks were dismantled shortly there after.
Today you can walk or bicycle along the elevated railroad bed used to haul supplies and materials for the construction of Hoover Dam. Enjoy the spectacular views of Lake Mead and the surrounding desert landscape.
The coordinates listed are for the parking location near the middle of the trail.
