As you enter the Star City building which contains Mir and other space station modules you see this life size statue of Yuri Gagarin in the foyer. Gagarin was the first man to orbit the earth in a one hour, forty eight minute flight on April 12, 1961. He never made another space flight, dying at age 34 in a test flight plane crash on March 12,1968.
The office he used at the Cosmonaut Training Center, renamed in his honor, is in this building.
