Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this historically restored building is the oldest house within the Dayton city limits and was built in 1861 by S.D. Broyles, who was an early resident of Smith's Crossroads and a developer of South Dayton. The James Robert Darwin family bought the house in 1908, and during the Scopes Trial boarded two reporters.
