The Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center received this one as a gift. The cow was commissioned by Discover Mediaworks, Inc., for the 2006 CowParade event in Madison.
Discover Mediaworks, whose corporate headquarters are in Eagle River, wanted to do something special for its home city - in honor of their television series Discover Wisconsin, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
"Connie Heeg and the Eagle River Area Chamber and Visitor Center have been such great supporters of Discover Wisconsin over the years, and incredible promoters of tourism in the Eagle River area, that we wanted to give something back and say thanks," said Mark Rose, who, along with his wife Lisa, own Discover Mediaworks.
"CowParade was a way for artists to show off their talents and creativity, while teaching people in a fun and educational way all about America's Dairyland," said James Robson, CEO of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. "We're glad Northwood's Cow has a new place to call home."
The CowParade Wisconsin 2006 herd of artistically created fiberglass cows that grazed Madison and surrounding communities for nearly five months raised more that $550,000 to benefit charity. The majority of the proceeds will help build the new American Family Children's Hospital in Madison. Proceeds will also benefit more than 30 other non-profit organizations.
