Wandering around the north of Scotland in the eastern fringe of the Highlands, I came across this hut. For a friend, I'm always on the look out for a good quonset hut. While this isn't a design I had ever seen, he tells me it's called a Nissen Hut. It is in active use and appeared in good condition though its current purpose I couldn't conclude.
Additions: Along the roof line can be seen three evenly spaced chimney vents. One end of the hut opens from the middle with dual sliding doors which run along an overhead track. Part of the south-facing arched roof appears to have been cut out and replaced with translucent plastic of similar corrugated dimensions to the roof. Perhaps in these lie clues to its current use or it could simply be that they wanted to bring in natural lighting and fresh air into the hut. Who knows!?
Hut Type: Nissen

Physical Address: Junction of Highway A90 & Hillhead Road Village of Crimond, Aberdeenshire Scotland 00000
