This oversize tree crusher was used to prepare the valley for flooding to make the W.A.C. Bennett Dam. It is now silently greeting people on the south end of the main road in Mackenzie.
The accompanying plaque reads:
"Tree Crusher Park.
Officially opened by
Ray Williston May 16, 1986.
The Letourneau G175 tree crusher was built in Longview Texas in 1960, by R.G. Letourneau Inc.. The crusher arrived in Mackenzie in 1964 and was used for clearing the floodplain under what is now Lake Williston.
Plaque compliments MARATHON LETOURNEAU."
