In 1991 the the Class A farm team for the Angels moved to Lake Elsinore, and was named the Storm! (Where they came from and what they were called there is irrelevent!)

Recently changing to the Padres' organization, the Storm has had great success in the Southern division of the California League. Several players have gone on from the Storm to eventually play in the majors, probably the most famous being Darrin Erstad of the Angels.
