Information on the nearby plaque reads: "Grist mill built around 1763 by William Laughlin. Owned by his family until 1896. Preserved by Ethel T. McCarthy. The oldest such structure remaining in this region."

The current water wheel was made by local school students a few years back.
Current Status: Ruin

Current Use: Building and water wheel has been restored but is not in use.
