Located in Kenefick Park on the grounds of The Lauritzen Gardens just off I-80 in Omaha NE. The Centennial 6900 was the largest and most powerful diesel locomotive ever built. This train is on display along with a Big Boy locomotive.
Kenefick Park is open to the public with no admission charged. Free parking is available at Lauritzen Gardens, and a sidewalk and stairway lead visitors from the parking lot to the park. Visitors can experience two attractions in one by paying admission to the garden and purchasing a tram tour ticket. The tram tours the garden's 100 acres - including a stop at Kenefick Park. Tram operation begins on the weekends in April and daily from May through October.
Kenefick Park shares the same hours of operation as Lauritzen Gardens - open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Kenefick Park and Lauritzen Gardens remain open until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evenings for "Twilight Tuesdays" from May 16 through September 19, 2006. Call (402) 346-4002 for more information
