Wall Drug, located just west of Badlands National Park, is a must see for any purveyor of fine kitsch. In South Dakota, the land o' kitsch, it is its most famous roadside attraction.

It started back in the 1930's when the drug store started giving away free glasses of ice water to lure road weary travellers off of the highways and into the drug store. Billboards were place for miles along I-90 telling of the fun and great deals to be had at Wall Drug. There's even a Wall Drug distance arrow in Antarctica!

Over the years more and more fun has been added - a giant animated T-Rex, multitudes of sit-by-me statues, 5 or more penny smashers, fortune tellers, mining attractions, a restaurant, candy store, rock shop... - you name it, you'll find it here. In fact it's difficult to find the actually pharmacy within the store, there's so much here.

Although the attraction and that cup of ice water they promised you are free, if you have children I guarantee that you will be parting with a good chunk of cash before you escape - ahh, I mean exit the store.
