This painting was a striking explosion of color among relatively drap decorated buildings surrounding it. It caught my eye as I pulled off of Memorial Drive to park and walk along the Charles River. It is located near the "B.U. Bridge" and next to MicroCenter.
The legend block states that it was designed and painted by David Fichter, with several assistants. I didn't see a year.
There are four major parts to this painting. The first, furthest right, is an area by MIT (represented by the dome on the right corner), with people relaxing on a grassy area. Next is a scene showing the windy river flowing under a bridge by Harvard University, with people both in the background and foreground enjoying themselves. The third is a single girl with a straw hat eating likely a peach (no doubt influenced by the fact that it's a Trader Joe's building), and the last, furthest left, is a black and white scene of a busy street with stores and streetcars and people.
For visitors, what's your favorite part?
