The menu states, “Slices Bigger Than Your Head!” Consider yourself warned, slices are actually much larger than any human head I’ve ever seen, and quite frankly, much larger than any human head I care to see. At Big Pie in The Sky (2090 Baker Road, Kennesaw Ga 30144/Tel: 770.420.8883) slices are cut from a jaw-dropping 30-inch pie that’s fed to the pizza oven using a custom made paddle and a little muscle.
The extra large carnivore (a 30-inch pie) tips the scales at just over 13 pounds, of which approximately 5 pounds is meat — a thick weighty layer of pepperoni, ground beef, Italian sausage, ham and bacon. If you and a friend can polish off one of these bad boys in under an hour you win $250 in house cash, to put towards future food — if you are physically capable of eating again, ever.
Interestingly, it’s not all about size at Big Pie in The Sky, in just their first week, owners Dirk Tendick and Chris Day tinkered with different cheeses and blends before wisely choosing a non-diluted Grande. Also, Italian sausage and meatballs are Fontanini. The crust is surprisingly crispy and sturdy enough to prevent buckling under the enormous weight of the toppings.
Size aside, it's in the same league with our city's best pizzas. Two of my friends from New York stated this was the best New York style they have had since they left NY! The mere sight of this beast alone is worth the drive.
On my visits I have spoken to many guest who love the place. Any day at lunch where you get a slice with 2 toppings and a soda for $5.00 !
Chatting with the lunch crowd you find ones who come 2 to 3 times a week!
