Many would use the skyscrapers of the International Style of architecture as the reason to move towards the post modern movement and its emphasis on context. As with many International style buildings, the IBM building could be placed in any city and function just as well.
Construction of the building began in 1969 and was completed in 1971. It is 52 stories tall and tops out at 695 feet (212 meters).
The photos were taken from a boat on the Chicago river.
Architect: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
 Building Type: Commercial
 Date Built: 1971
City building is located in: Chicago
