Arthur Benjamin Cohn constructed this house in 1905, on the site of a home built by Winnifred Brown in the early 1860s. Part of the Brown house was incorporated into the new home. Arthur Benjamin Cohn was William Marsh Rice’s Houston accountant. After Rice’s death, he became an agent for Rice’s estate and the William Marsh Rice Institute, later Rice University. The house, with its beautiful beveled glass windows, is badly in need of restoration.
