The rock formations begin towards the second half of the trail. Waterfall and kiln ruins at end. Trail only about 0.5 miles one way. Parking lot at trailhead on Shaffer Road. On the way into the trail, hikers will pass on left a starting point for the Slippery Rock Gorge Trail (SRGT). The North Country National Scenic Trail also passes through here and merges with the SRGT for a few miles.
Trail is an easy hike and well-maintained. Waterfall area is slippery as are a couple other rocky areas.
