Artist Michael Manjarris created Mariposa Park in November, 1989, with the help of several homeless persons. A sculpture, Family by James Surls and Charmaine Locke, was added by the city in 1991. What you’ll see are metal cut-outs of cows on skewers waving in the wind; what seem to be colorful clay impressions of fishes, boats and other symbols pressed into the benches; and sweeping views of Corpus Christi Bay from across a vast, empty parking lot. If you want solitude in the city, come here.
