If you need some sightseeing in Qatar, rent a car, and go for this one. It may be closed, but it is still interesting to see from outside. A battle took place here many years ago. Can you imagine what they could defend using this fort?
Inside the fort there is a simple museum, where you can see old items like coins etc. The person watching this museum will be happy if you give him some riyals for his maintining work.
If you enter one of the towers, you can feel the smart system of air conditioning used in old days. They have many round holes, forcing the wind to increase speed through the walls. This has a nice cooling effect, even if it is 40 degrees outside.
If you want to prove you have been there, log a picture of yourself or your GPSR with readable position in front of the fort. If you don't have a camera, send me a message saying how many vertical holes there are in the flat wall behind the fort. The holes are almost rectangular. You should count the ones between the two towers, on the opposite side of the entrance.
There are different number of holes on each wall. The position of this waymark points to the location behind the fort, where you can count the holes.
