Not so many years ago, this was a very rural area--far from any town. Green Level residents got gasoline and necessities at the convenience store. They worshipped at the white church on the hill. They were buried in the Green Level cemetery. The Masons met in a hall on the church grounds. And people lived in houses of various sizes, ranging in age from 100 to 150 years old

Today, the Town of Cary has annexed much of the surrounding land, and subdivisions are being constructed. There is a large Town of Cary park just to the north. One mile west, Cary is building a large waste-water pumping station. Two miles southwest, Cary and Apex have built a joint water treatment station, which is supplied by Jordan Lake.

The convenience store is now a nursury and landscape business, but the old gas pumps are still visible. Some of the old homes are still standing, although a few are abandoned. The Green Level Church is a vibrant congregation which welcomes new residents.
