Special thanks to geocacher "josebasser" for introducing me to this spot via a cache. This turntable foundation was used when this area of Pennslvania had many iron furnaces and train tracks connecting them. Mules would rotate the locomotive and cars on a balanced wooden table, long since removed. The woods have taken over, but the three levels of the turntable are still visible. There's a tree growing from the center where the spindle balanced the table. A large stone on the south side has the construction date listed as 7.1887. I don't know when the turntable saw the last use. On the north side of the structure are three trails leading away. These are the beds of three tracks that the table was used to switch the trains to. It would be interesting to follow those trails.
