The current Washington County Courthouse was built in 1908 replacing an early one destroyed by fire January 9, 1907. The courthouse was designed by Henry H. Hohenschild, who had designed many Missouri courthouses. The building was constructed by W. R. Oder of Canton, Missouri, for about $30,000.
