The cemetery is owned and maintained by the Town of Spruce Pine. The number of graves is approximately 2,500. The town was founded in 1907, but this cemetery appears to date from the 1930's. In addition to Town Hall, information on burial locations can be obtained from Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine.
To reach from downtown Spruce Pine, go south on US-226 about one mile. The entrance is on your left, However, the BEST way in and out is to go 200 feet south of the main entrance and turn beside the glass company. Otherwise, you are in a situation where you cannot see oncoming traffic.
During my visit to my family's plots, I noticed a benchmark disk, set into a rock. The coordinates are N35 54.180, W082 04.374. If you find it, you can log it on geocaching.com/mark, using identifier FB3831.
